I had heard good things about these mics for the price, so I decided to add one to my collection. I went to my local pro audio dealer where I am friends with one of the salesmen. He asked me if I had a half hour to spare and took me into one of their sound rooms and then went and got 14 of these mics (Oktava MK319) and we tested each one separately - this is because they are handmade - one could be made on a Monday by a guy who has already started in on the morning vodka, the next one could have been made by a dude with his shit together.
Out of the 14 we tested, 2 sounded like crap, 4 sounded okay, 6 sounded pretty good, and 2 sounded excellent. We then A/B'd the 2 excellent ones until I decided on one over the other.
So this is just a word of advice with these Oktava's - it may be a pain in the ass, and you may piss off the salesperson by asking to check every mic in the inventory - but it is worth it!

Just wondering how you performed the tests, Brad. I'm about to buy a couple of MC012, and I've never been A/B-ing mics a lot.
