They came in tonight saying they wanted to do Devils Favorite Girl as a piano piece. If you heard it before or on the video I posted here last week, you know that it was a long shot.

Check out how it came out. Loving it.

http://www.purevolume.com/myfinesthour its listed as a piano version

Score another one for GREAT engineering! It sounded good even through my cheap pc speakers! Nice job again, tubedude!

Thanks! I used an MD-441 on his voice this time and I think I like it... it seemed smoother than the u195 and fit the warm piano sound a little better. If you dont own a 441, make it your next buy. Works on anything.

Like the changes in the song? I think its neat.

hey good job man, hands down better performance than the full band version. I find the pitch of the vocals is off a lot but there's hardly anything you can do about that.

Wow! What piano was used for that? What mics, preamps, mic positioning and everything else??? I've been looking for that piano sound but it has been eluding me.

Its a concert grand, recorded by... Edirol Orchestral. We used the edirol piano samples triggered by a Roland 81 weighted-key keyboard. Compared to the piano sounds in the expensive Roland, the Edirol samples ate it alive. Its a very nice sounding piano sample set for a fair price. The string sections are incredible.

Technology is a mutha.... Drummerdude asked me how I was mic'ing my drums when the MR-8 has only 2 inputs. I only have a drum machine (Yamaha DD-55, it has the pads so you can play it like a real drum). But if you are real careful, and know what you're doing, you can achieve amazing results.

I am going to take that under advice, for real!

It was a nice change up. I like this one much better than the full version.
Uh, except his voice.... :o

To clarify, it's not something you did, he's just not a great singer. Decent, but not great....
