My buddy wrote this song and we tracked it in a few hours. I did a quick mix and used some reverb from my Kurzweil Rumour and Mangler. Drums are BFD. Bass DI'd right into my E-MU 1820M w/ some compression.

Mic was combo MXL V77 + Beyer M500N through a Rane ms-1b and Studio Projects VTB-1. I think I used the V77 on acoustic guitar, too.

I want to clean up the backing vocals (maybe some de-essing?), but I welcome your comments!

Mr Bowes,
If you're going to keep the pickup notes/intro lift it up.
The backing vox are too far forward, too middly & no normal compared to the cigarettes & whiskey lead vocal.
The country lick guitar needs clarity, tone & space from beginning to end. It sounds like it might be clever or just a cheap attempt at bass sitting where it is now.
I like the song & the vocals.
