Hello all,

I posted The Jam a few days ago. The older thread can be seen at:
https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=217728

I've tried to address all issues pointed out and take into consideration most of the suggestions.

I've re-recorded all the guitars and tried to remove all the noise and stray string noises. Gates were tighter and the fuzz less. The drums are less snappy on the snare. Between 0:38 - 0:57, the drums are kind of work in progress. Not sure how I'll redo that later.

One thing to note is that if the rhythm sounds rough, it's because it's played using fourth chords and not regular power cords. This will make it sound like the recording not matter how less dist. the amp has.

Here's a second attempt. Any suggestions on the playing, mix, production, arrangement are welcome. :)

I've always thought of this as alternative hard rock-ish some-genre. How would you categorize this? Just curious. :)

Thanks all.

I like the tick tock panning of the drums in the intro.
Much gnarlier mix.
On occasion some of the lead lines lack top end bite.
A good arrangement & track.
Well done BB, I enjoyed the listen.

I really like the heavy rthym sound and the double kick drums.Lead lines sound kinda exotic and middle eastern and I dig that.Kinda reminds me of Iron Maiden on there last couple albums for some reason(maybe cause Im going to see them in concert tonight and I got Maiden on the brain)....
I really like this and I think it holds its own as an instrumental cause it kept me interested thru out the whole song.Im at work so I can't really crank like I think it needs to be cranked...will be checking it out again when I get home.
Good job!

Ray, thanks for listening and commenting. I appreciate it. :)

You're right on the leads. When mixing I was thinking of making a note to raise the leads later. Since I had already done the uploading, I figure I'd do it later. :)

Lead lines are eastern sounding because it's a Urdu/Hindi church hymn. :) I don't think it sounds like Maiden or even close but it means quite a bit that you would even make that comparison seeing as Iron Maiden was one of the bands I grew up listening to and liking. :) Have fun at the concert.

I'm hoping that the mix is sounding good enough. If it is, I'll finish the entire recording and call the track done. :)

Again, thanks for listening. :)

Nice funky start...good Middle Eastern vibe.

Way too much low end here. It's muddy in the lows......bas and low drums. (at least I'm guessing kick drum...might just be the bass clouding it up. )

Tune itself is cool, and will be great once you get the mix sorted out.

Hey Dogman, thanks for listening and commenting buddy. I appreciate it.

Per your suggestion, I had actually removed a nice deal of bass. But will remove more. I rolled it off at 80-100Hz whereas before it was 60-80Hz. Anyway, since the gits were re-recorded and re-EQ'd, I probably messed up the bass more. Will try to fix it. Thanks for the second listen. :)

Dogman, I removed more low end. The bass wasn't that much of a problem as the banger guitars were. They were muddying up with a lot of low and low-mid noises. The hum of muted strings on the lower notes was adding to the bass sound.

Anyhoo, I went and remove as much unwanted stuff as possible.

Hope it sounds a little better. :)

Anyone else, any ideas. Is the mix getting any better? I am trying to listen to people's advice and suggestions. :) Not sure how it's working out. :)
