I really don't have much to say about this one exept the lyrics being jammed together in some places like they are is intentional. Please tell me what you think.

If I Died

Here are the lyrics.

If I died, if I die today,
would you give me the common courtesy of showing up anyway?
Look at my face hanging in the window display.

If I died, if I die today,
Would you have a list made out and know exactly what to say
or would you stall the press off and make a big ol' delay? yeah.

I must admit I was shocked when they asked me the questions in that way.
I didn't know what to say so I said the only things that I knew how to say.

(Chorus)
If you died, I'd probably say you were once full of Cheer,
while I was crying and swallowing down my beer.
If you died I'd make fun of you 'cause I know that you'd want me to.
Your last will and testament would be one big IOU.
Well I guess you do.
After putting me through all this mess I guess you do.

What the heck was I doing this for?
I don't know.
Make me understand your curiousness,
for this question that I don't know.

Well you see I just have a morbid sence of curiosity.
I want to know what would happen to me.

(Chorus)

Write me an epitaph.
I want a lot on there some make the lettering rather small.
Write me and epitaph,
on a tombstone that stands rather big and tall.

Here lies the biggest idiot of them all.
He was obsessed with dying and not with living at all.

(Chorus)

-Adam.

As usual, very well done Adam. Lyrics are a bit bizarre, but that's always better than some kind of banal "ohh I loved you baby and you left me" type stuff.

I really like the sound of the vox; mind sharing the details on how they were done (plug-ins, etc.)?

Keep it up
Matt

yeah, vocals are outstanding....your stuff is so well crafted and arranged, I always look forward to listening! Love the phrasing of the vocal lines...very catchy! Great take on death.....love the attitude!

Thanks man. I'm glad you brought that up, because one of my main goals is to not write about what everybody else writes about. As for the vocals, nothing special. A very tedious double track, a compressor (reacomp) reverb (omniverb) and a de-esser (spitfish). Nothing special. All free plugins.

Thanks a lot Queepy. I really dig your tunes as well!

You have no idea. Maybe you do. I totally run/ruin shit down in the cave. :D

Around 1:10 kinda' ruined it for me, but its not really the style of music I listen too so I guess is a genre thing.

However, I'm really loving your lyrics man. Props in not writing what everyone else, including myself (sometimes), write about: Leaving their girlfriends or their girlfriends leaving them and any relation to that :D

I like the song. I wasn't expecting the happy music in the beginning of the song. Good job.

Thanks man. Glad you liked it! I wasn't really intending it to be happy, but it's good there was a twist. :D

I think this is a great song.

I also think that your vocal delivery lends itself to a sort of unserious feel, although it's a very serious topic.

Reminds me of old TMBG.

Love the epitaph.

Thanks dude. I had no idea you even listened to them. (TMBG) I'm glad you liked it! :D

ADAM = TMBG + Nilsson + HIMself.
Funny, well done, well recorded & played.
the bridge (?) part "what the heck - didn't work as well as the rest 1st time through - but that's small potaoes eh?
Very good work Adam - vocally you're becomine more Adam & less a sum of your influences which is terrific to hear.

Thanks Rayc. I'm glad you liked it. As for the bridge, I thought that too, but I got used to it and didn't want to cut it. Not to mention the verse right after that is a direct response to that bridge. Anyway, thanks again!

Class song and I can hear the Beatles influence on you, Adam...hope that never changes. Your singing is absolutely perfect and I admire your musical maturity. Beautiful performance and mix too.;)
10+ from me!

Joey :):):):)

Great job! I really like your music. This have a kinda Beatle-esque flow to it. I really like it.

Good song. It's catchy and upbeat, and the lyrics are pretty solid.

I'd recommend toning down the multi-tracking of the vox in the verses a little. (It's very obvious that there are two of you singing the same thing), but it sounds good in the choruses.

I like the warbling synth thing you have going in the background. It's subtle and sounds good.

Hey Adam,

Not much I can add here. Despite your warning, I was taken off-guard by the rapid fire vocal delivery, but you make it fit to be sure :). Recording sounds clean and well balanced.

There is a huge underlying irony here in that your music and singing is so bright and cheery and upbeat, yet you are singing about death. I think that alone gives you a great starting point for a song, but beyond that, you fleshed the whole thing out really well too.

Can you slow it down some next time maybe though :p:D? I think I get what you're doing here and you pull it off, but the tempo seems unnaturally rapid to me...that is probably just me - I don't deal with upbeat so well...:D

Thank you very much Joey. Yeah, there is some beatles in there. I just got some of their remastered stuff. (the white album sounds amazing!) I don't to it intentionally but my songs always in some way wind up sounding like the beatles. Thanks again.

Thank you Vomit. I do agree that maybe it would sound better with one voice slightly mixed behing the other, but at the time (and now) I wanted it to be obvious there were two voices. An over pronounced double track like that was present in a lot of 60s music. Thanks a lot for listening and I'm glad you liked it.

Thanks a lot Heat. I crank out some slow ones every now and then. Just take a listen to my songs Hit The Ground Running, and Not Goodbye, Hello.
Surf Jones is also in the slowish tempo dpt. I'm glad you like it, and sorry you were tossed of balance by the rapid fire vocals. I just guess I think if I don't give people time to realise my songs are terrible by getting through the song really fast, they won't notice. :D (Just kidding by the way)
