Gentlemen,

If anyone has the time, I would appreciate any comments bad or good about this tune. Mix and vocal tips are appreciated. It was recorded on the 788.

Thanks in advance.

WARNING some may find the lyric content explicit.

www.mp3.com/samicide The song is called "the hole situation."

B.Sabbath/Samicide,

I downloaded this song a while ago, and have since listened to it twice.

I thought it was a good, original sounding song, with catchy commercial sounding elements, like the smooth harmony of the chorus. I thought the lyrics were fairly clever, and bent. In general, the song sounded good, and it's interesting also that you did it on the 788, so good job. thx. /DA

good stuff, it's not my cup of tea, but the recording sounded great. I'm not up on the 788 but it seems like you got it down.

REEL and dtb,

Thanks for taking the time. I posted this in the "Mp3 clinic" and got a lot of feedback. I figured I would post it here also, so fellow 788 users could check it out.

Your comments are appreciated.

Thanks.

MP3 format

Hi I was wondering how do you convert your 788 ewcorded tracks to MP3 format. After my tracks are complete. I burn to a stand alone cd recorder. These recordings are not recognized as wav files. All of the programs on my P.C only recognize wav files and MP3. I can not pull these up under those formats. It can only be called up by entering all files. Do you have any idea of what I'm doing wrong?

JT,

I'm sure there are better ways than how I do it, but all I do is, make a tune on the 788, burn a mix to c.d., pop it in the computer and convert it using Music Match. You can get Music Match for free, and that will create the Mp3. You can select the quality. I use 128kbps, which I think is what most people use.

I'm not the brightest, so if you have any tech support questions, you might want to start a new thread, and try to get the attention of "Big Papa Fly" and "philboyd studge." These guys are both 788 users and seem to have a lot of knowledge in this type of thing.

I'm not sure if this helped at all, but try to flag those guys down and you should be able to get better info.

I just checked out your song. Very cool! I am not very educated as far as production, so I wont make any comments. It sounded great to me. I to have a 788, but I haven't had the time to really use it, nevermind get a finished song down. After listening to your song, I am very optimistic about the machine.

I'd love to know what equip you used for your guitar & drums.

Great work, I'll keep an eye out for more of your work.

THANKS ALOT

I will try that and i'll let u know if it works

SSgtP,

Thanks. The 788 is definitly a great machine despite some of the bugs. I use different things on different songs but for this one,

The electric guitar went through this chain for the rhythm,
guitar, pod pro, Blue max compressor.

For the strange soloish thing, I went through a digitech 2112, into pod pro LINE IN, and to the Blue Max compressor.

The acoustic was an SM-58 into the BLUE TUBE mic pre, into the BLUE MAX compressor, into a BBE sonic maximizer.

----EDIT--- The drums were an ALESIS DM5 that I played on pads.

I also use the 788 compressor on all tracks to tighten things up a bit.

Good Luck with your recording, post up some tunes when you finish em'!

I just finished a much more guitar orientated song with my trusty 788, if you wanna hear the meaning of abused guitar effects.

It's in the MIXING CLINIC, and here www.nowhereradio.com/samij/singles
It's called "first passing" All of these were recorded on the 788.
