i just built an 8' x 8' drum platform. it is constructed of a 2x4 frame with half inch plywood on it. i then applied a solid oak wood floor to the top. this platform will be sitting on top of my padded carpet in my control room. should i somehow "float" the platform with some sord of rubber or auralex foam 2x4's, or should is set in on top of sand bags or something?

I don't know, I have nothing to compare it to yet, but everything I've read says wood will sound a lot better than carpet.

Yes the woo d wil probably sound better. If it's sitting on coarpet with underlay I wouldn't bother to float it any more.
