Hi all,
I'm a guitar player from India, with very, very limited knowledge of homerecording.
Nevertheless, I've put up a homerecorded tune. It's a blues rock thingy.
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=459161
Used: Audacity, Kinetic Cakewalk for drums and lii'l bit of pads. Fender Presision, Japanese strat copy 'astra', Boss GT 6.
It's pretty much live...

I would be honoured if you give it a listen and give me feedback on it.
peace
Sumit

Thanks

Thanks, Clive.
By the way, my Hindi is probably worse than yours :p
My mother tongue is Bengali -- one of the numerous languages (15 official ones) spoken in my collage of a country.

Yeah, meera hindi bahut karab huu. As you can see. My cousin spoke Bengali when he first arrived in England as a small kid but he's like me with Hindi, most of it has gone, but can be dredged up when needed.
Anyway, what sort of gigs do you get or whatever? I'm curious, is there a local guitar/amp manufacturing industry?

I used to play in a Latin band -- standards, Santana, originals -- at a Calcutta pub which has different bands on each day of the week.
Now, unfortunately, I'm a journalist by profession. There's not enough money in 'western' music in India, yet. So I sit at home and play my guitar, dreaming of an album someday. My band still plays in Calcutta. I am in Bombay.
There is a fledgling rock scene, but not really anywhere close to big.
We do have a vibrant movie industry, though. DJs and 'remixes' are getting very big lately.
There are locally made guitars and amps, like 'Givson' guitars and 'Hobner' guitars. The acoustic ones are ok, the electrics are pathetic.
Anyone anywhere close to pro level uses the 'Western' brands. we don't get all, but Squiers, Fenders and Ibanezs are available. Some Chinese brands are also flooding the market these days, like GB&A.

I like it :)
There are some pretty cool chords in the clean part. Nice lead tone too.

Thanks SSK. Yes, my pathetic onboard soundcard does surprise sometimes, if I tweak the GT-6 long enough :)

Hey sumit, I like the smoothness of your lead guitar tone and the pristine sound of your rhythm guitars chords.

I can't comment on the specifics of the mix because I am listening on my pc speakers, but overall a fairly even balance of the instruments in the mix. :)

Thanks Gorty,
To be honest, there is no 'mix'. Just put a 'bass boost' on the bass and fiddled with the volumes of the instruments.
I can only fumble my way around audacity. Just about.
Wish I knew the works...
As in, I wish I knew how to do it myself, instead of praying for a guy who would understand -- 'I want less honk on my guitar'.
