I am in the process of testing out delay pedals to see what sounds best for me. I went to a small local music store today, and all they had was the Ibanez de7 digital delay/echo pedal.
It was pretty quiet. Some of the echo effects were cool. You can control the delay time pretty accurately with the knobs and switches.
But here is what makes it worth about $5 to me. I like to be able to change the delay time in the middle of a song (live). When you do this with the de7, you get horrible pitch bending. I mean really awful sounding stuff. Is this common in cheap delay pedals?

it seems to be the norm with analog delays, and digital delays that use an analog control circuit (AKA potentiometer). The rackmount delays i have used that have a digital control don't change the pitch when changing delay time.
