I'm not Muttley, but there's a thread going over at the LPF called "Les Paul Carnage" or something like it. It makes me shudder, especially the LPDC neck repairs. My favorite is the one with the franken-bolts.
Edit: I ganked my favorite picture from over there. I'm still in awe!

Do yo mean in terms of damage or wonton vandalism in the name of customising?
If the latter I once had a guy bring in a Martin OM he had tried to add a mandolin neck to to make it into a cool double neck. It was completely ruined.
In terms of damage I've seen quite a few guitars of significant pedigree that have been run over in the car park after a gig, matchwood mostly at that point. You'd be surprised how often that happens..
