Trailing Behind Again
... but I figured, what the hell? It's a stripped down version of "With You Tonight".

I was looking for a way to incorporate a conga track that BentRabbit did for it, when an idea hit me, and I came up with this version. I was going for a version that would sound more like a band would be playing it live.

I was imagining the video for this. It would start out with everyone sitting around a campfire and then (you'll know when) transition to a stage.

Tell me what you think?

With You Tonight Remix

The original is right below it if you want to compare...

Me - left channel acoustic guitar and bass
joeym - vocals
Anfontan - right channel lead
BentRabbit - drums and percussion

Hey man, everything was going fine until the drums appear (01:58) Snare need more attack, it sounds dull and lifeless. Kick could use some high boost to bite a little more. More inside-kick will help too. Rest sounds great to me, especially the acoustics.

What happens at 03:58? Sounds like a big mistake

Hey Rokket, that's a nice new interpretation of the song-yeah it does sound more live at that! Is my acoustic rhythm on the right side too or was that your 2nd rhythm guitar? Joey can sure sound like a choir on this one.

The rhythm is my second guitar. I couldn't get yours to fit sonically in the mix... :o

I am going to revisit the drums and try to figure out what the mistake was near the end...

I think it was a bad edit. When I sent the tracks to BentRabbit to do the drums, I forgot to take the fade outs off, so he kept playing on until he decided it was enough. I moved his final kick/cymbal hit to the last measure. I will have to take a harder look at it and make sure it comes out more seamless.

seems like the acoustic guitar should have a little more oomph when the drums come in.
also, i would suggest a roll on a cymbal or maybe a simple fill for the 4 beats prior to when the drums come in. might make the transition from mellow acoustic stuff to full band a little smoother.

i like the vocal harmony

its very intimate.........for sure.

My initial listenings found that the song has a VERY open airy sound to it...... yet the kick drum and bass guitar have a very upfront/dry rock approach.

The harmony backing vocals sound prestine and crystal clear.

everything sounds like its sitting in the mix just fine, nothing is fighting for space at all.

Its the overall open vibe of the song, and the upfront dry kick/bass thats kinda throwing me off some.....but that could be the way you intended it.....

I like the way the drums and bass come in, but I am sure there is room for improvement. I just did this as an exercise, and I really prefer the original mix to this one. It's clear that I have things to work on. Thank you for your imput. Every post is valuable to me.

I like it. It sounds well mixed to my ears and has a nice relaxing feel. It made me feel good! Walter

3 words:
Easy to listen!

The acoustics sound great!
My guess is you wanted drums to not interfere with your intimate feeling? Anyway, I like the fact that they are not too upfront:)
Vocals are just amazing, wish I had such a nice voice!

Great song!

PS: Yup, it sounds like a drum track missunderstanding there at the end, can be easily edited.

I wish I could sing like that too...

That's joeym, not me...

Thanks for the listen. :)

Thanx for the comments on the voice everyone.......
Rokket writes sweet songs, they give me a break from my dark side. :D:D
