i want to hear my what is hooked up to my 4track

can i use a midi cable from my 4track to the computer while having things hooked up to the 4track in a attemt to play music through the 4track and record them on the computer.If this possable could i then add music software programs to add to the recording?the reason i want to use my 4track is because i am not computer litterate all of the programs that come out i have no idea how to use them they are too comlicated, for me anyways .can anyone give me any advice on this matter?

Simply put, no. The midi cable will not transfer audio. If you want to transfer 4 tracks at a time you need a soundcard with 4 inputs.

you can hook a cable from the 4 tracks output to the line in of your soundcard and record it that way, but you wont get 4 separate tracks....you will get the stereo mix.......

if the 4 track has separate outs for each track and you have a 4 channel soundcard you can record 4 separate tracks but im guessing that isnt the case.....
