I thought Behringer sucked?

Generally it does...

You just proved what good musicanship and recording skills does to leviate the suckness:D

Great sounding guitar man:cool:

I guess you missed some of the reviews from a few years back. The ECM8000 is one of the successes from Behringer. The only backdraw to that mic is that it can be noisy. It uses a Panasonic capsule known for a nice flat response. It's really good for overheads as well.

Sounds like a good mic for that particular guitar. Thats what it's all about. Right mic on the right source.

yep

that's exactly what I thought...didn't Harvey give the ECM8000 a thumbs up?

It did sound nice & clean on PhilGood's guitar!

Man! that gives me G-A-S! (again)

I gave it a "qualified" thumbs up, based on the similarity between it and the Audix T-40 measurement mic it's copied from. I've been one of the major proponents of omni mics right from the start. It seemed like a majority of Homerec'ers were only into LDC's cardioids when I first joined here.

Anyone have any samples of that as an overhead? I was thinking about getting 2.

Well see, there you go. It's not the mics, it's the gold signal chain behind them! Viva la revolution!

Only the best for me! Or the most inexpensive. Either one.

The power of mic placement. :D I can fool people into thinking I have a nice sounding guitar. ;)

I used to use ecm's on my guitar before I got an SM81. The Behringers aren't bad. In fact I A/B'd them with the 81, and although I like the 81 better, they're not real far behind. I also use a DMP3.

Not all Behringer gear sucks
some of their stuff is actually quite good
I own several pieces of behringer equipment that I like rather well
Behringer does make good mics as a matter of fact I have several that are used as drum mics and other instrument mics.

M-Audio DMP3. Into an M-Audio 24/96 sound card. Then into Reaper.

Amazing. I love how you can go to one section of the site and have basically everyone tell you that you are wasting your time even thinking about using this stuff. Then you hear a snippit of an entire setup, not just signal chain (minus the computer), that is a fraction of the price of what people feel is necessary and it sounds exponetially better than their music. Great work.

Thanks. :D

I think as everyone said, this is one of their few good products. I've never used any of their other stuff.

All I know is that if you can arrange stuff to where you can get a decent source sound, and use the best mic placement possible...pretty much any cheap, accurate, SDC mic will do the trick. For acoustic guitar anyway...
