I could record all day at a place like Angel Mountain... I love clean lines and rich/dark colors...

Some of those AAA design places look pretty sweet too.

That's a pretty sweet place but I agree it's pretty steril looking. Not a lava lamp to be found. :(

Exactly my point, though I am not that concerned about the lava lamps. I also don't really feel comfortable making music in spaces that large unless there are people in it. I think it is a situation of different needs and opinions, though. Some people love modern, minimalist homes. They feel comfortable with white walls and huge rooms. I like twenties to thirties craftsman's. That place feels to me more like a modern place (albeit a very expensive and well built one). To me, the spaces are too big, and there is nothing which would make me comfortable in a space that big.

My favorite studio was always Blue Jay out in Massachusetts (who's web site is down, and I am afraid they might have closed). The live room was big, but had a lot of nooks and corners in the room. It did not feel half as big as it actually was, but it sounded great. It felt intimate. I think the 20' by 20' stone wall helped (diffusion, don't you know).

But maybe I am just an agoraphobic.

Man - thats gorgeous.

I bet I could spend a few days in there and enjoy myself.

Sorry to have to provide another kind of opinion
That's exactly the kind of studio I used to work in often, and exactly the kind I went overboard to avoid when I was building mine. To me it feels like a cross between a modern office building and a hospital - not the kind of environment you want if you need to be creative.

Exactly my point. It can be fun for an engineer, and musicians will look around and say, "cool." Then when they start to play, they sound as stiff as a bad high school jazz band.

yeah - I can understand that ;)

I suppose it's based around the vision of the guy who built it really - it sortta displays the thinking behind it - like a super highrise studio...where's the pool? .........maybe someone with toooo..... much money :D:D I dunno.

yet stick some real people in there and I could boogie :p :p

and I'm sure they do

cheers
