the "writing room" somewhat resembles the home studio of my dreams :(

You know what they say, If you build it, the guys on from the homrecording.com bbs will find pictures of it and pleasure themselves with them :D

I'm sure it sounds nice, and it looks cool, but I don't think I would want to make a record there. It feels kinda steral, which I have never found to be condusive to the kind of creativity I want when makeing music. In short, as an engineer I would love it, as a producer and a musician, I would feel uncomfortable. The best places have both the sound and the comfort. But that is me, and I can only talk about my opinions and experiences.

You're kidding right?
You wouldn't be comfortable there?
What more do you want???
That place ooozes comfort and I'm sure it has the sound to go along with it.

I know what you mean.I like a little elbow room when I'm laying tracks.

Glad you guys like it, you're more than welcome to come over and jam some tunes anytime.

wowo that's some place. - who said soffit mounting was old practice :):) I love the motorised (well I suspect they are) sliding glass doors and the way they set them into the floor - very cool designer ;) seems like everyone is using my sliding glass doors

I suspect it might cost a bit more than $50/sq ft!! eh Bruce??

cheers

Yeah that was exactly what my dream consisted of. That studio is almost as nice as mine, (with all the sarcasm I can muster)
;)

Nice studio, but their website is utterly annoying. I hate the images that keep scrolling on the right hand side. Too distracting...

That is awesome.. I would be at the bar to much and nothing would get done.

Ok... ok... I'll 'fess up.... that's the design John did for me originally, but I didn't have the budget to implement it!!!!!

:D :D

yeah... its funny... I ran across it while looking at remote headphone distributing equipment..... and needless to say I began to salivate.

Makes me rinky dink little design look like a bathroom at that place :)

*sigh*... I guess my endless quest to see how discontent I can make myself with the small setup I have will continue :)

Don't sweat the small space.

My first acoustically treated studio was a 8'x8' walk in closet with a 7' high relay rack of gear, three Fostex 450-16 consoles "stacked", a few keyboards, and the two Studers were outside the walk in closet in the bedroom :D

Computer racks are nice - build up instead of out!

yeah... its funny... my old house had just a control room... I'd set up other room in the house for live rooms as needed.

The new house has 'dedicated space' plus some... but the control room will be about the exact same size :)

But in the old house it was on the second floor... lots of windows (bad reflections)... no air conditioning... OUCH... and only TWO *NON GROUNDED* outlets in the entire area :)

The new room is in the basement... solid concrete all the way around... its one sub panel for electrical.. etc :)

That's a pretty sweet place but I agree it's pretty steril looking. Not a lava lamp to be found. :(
