I think I'd like to have my band's CD professionally mastered...

But I'm not sure who to go with, or how much I've got to spend to get a decent job done! I'd like to find someone who really enjoys the music, and is willing to work with us to really put the finishing touches on this CD, vs. someone looking to make a quick buck with some L3 presets or something. I know it's a long-shot to find someone who'd be really into the music itself, but I figure it's worth a shot!

I've got samples of the really quickly smashed/slightly EQ'd versions of a couple of songs on our myspace (myspace.com/everestband), but these are obviously way smashed, and way destroyed by the myspace "loving care" process. I'm just posting them so y'all can get an idea of the music style (metal). If it sounds like something you might be potentially interested in, let me know!

(EDIT) Heh... We posted at the same time...

Is there any way you could just throw it through the “Stereo Stupidifier with Digital Sonic Decrapulator” 5 or 6 times?

Nah...you're stuff already sounds pretty good--I'll bet it only needs 3 or 4 passes! :D

Yeah, but I want to make absolutely sure that absolutely all dynamics are completely eradicated. I really have to stress that our music is essentially static/white noise, and I want it mastered as such.

Tom V. at Mastering House currently has my collection of songs. I asked that his 2nd engineer do the work to save some bucks. They quoted me a GREAT price and so far the samples they sent back have been awesome. My tunes are not like yours, but I suggest you talk with them also.

Word of mouth is great advertising and I want to help them out as best i can.... :)

Peace,

This guy's prices are almost unbelievable and his client list, not to mention the equipment is also quite impressive.

Any info about him? Years back I had an internet aquaintance that raved about the service, and the final CD did sound good, although I never heard the unmastered version.

Apparently, he branched out on his own years back from leaving the "record companies".
