I need to know what an AUX track is and more importantly what it is used for.

THanks

Yo Frank of Number 1:

AUX = Auxilliary, spare, extra, available ins/outs.

So, you can patch a CD player into/through an AUX or a radio or a wax turntable or a processor. Can't patch through a dry martini. That needs to be made to order.

If you had an integrated amp, the CD plug in is just another name for AUX except the circuitry could be high quality for CD.

I hope this AUXED you.

The AUX you guys are talking about is on an analog mixer, so is that the same as digital software like Protools? With protools you don't need to create an AUX track for effects you just use "insert" and pick the effect. WIth protools you use an AUX track for MIDI stuff.

One more question: what is pre or post EQ. What does the "pre" do to the sound and what does the "post" do to the sound?

Thanx

PRE= before it gets to the fader.

POST=after it leaves the fader.
