So I'm making an album of covers with co-workers. This is a duet of a Dan Hicks song thats been recorded many times so we kinda melded two versions together arrangement wise.

This is a beast of a mix!-I have 22 tracks going and lots of automation. I kinda feel like I've mixed the life out of it, like the mix sounded better while tracking. The girl especially is a complete amateur singer, so I've really had to mix around her voice without hiding it. I've also been pretty liberal with the "pitch correction" but I would like her not to notice it if possible.

So tell me-

--You a musician will probably hear the pitch correction, but is it overdone?
--Are the vocals sitting ok in the mix?
--Is the bass to loud?

Any other comments are welcome and thanks for listening. Recorded to PT9 through an mbox2. Should be the first song that plays. "I Scare Myself"

guitar intro is sick. and everything seems to sit wells o far, snare is a little to up front. girl isn't the best singer, or at least this isn't her song. organ needs to go back just a tad

Sick in deed!! I love the whole feel of the song.. had me movin :) I like the mix in general but I dont think it sits well with the vocals. The bass seems fine. I actually like the snare where its at. I wish the male vocal was closer up and lil brighter in the 2k-6k. It sounds like you guys are sharing one mic or something. For an amateur the girls not that bad. She seems to be at least musical. I can tell there's a lil autotune but it doesnt seem all that bad. I'm thinking if you're not that happy how about do something crazy like go overboard on autotune for her voice. If not all the track just the chorus or something. I say mess around with it and use what you got.
