Cool... what's the name of the Album, and did you "only use" Radio Shack mic's?

And for the rest of us, well we can forget it because now we find they have DROPPED the mic from the catalog.
Unfrickin believable.

I'd like to know what Album it is and more about the recording details... it would be nice to listen to it. :)

To be honest, I don't believe this.

At least tell this forum what album you're talking about.

I could tell you I've won a Grammy, would you believe that?

I did one also......I took my portable cassette recorder with the cheap mic....set it down in front of my speakers and actually recorded several #1 albums.......

:) thats a good one:)

Hi Bob, welcome to the new and improved mic board.... :) Hey what mic do you use on your horn?

Believe it or not, I've been using a Rode NT-1. But I recently got a MXL V93 and a V67.
For the sax, I think I like the V67 best.

Way cool, I've used the Sennheiser MD421 on sax a lot... but never tried the V67G on sax, I'll have to give it try...... thanks for the tip. :)

PS.... we used a Rode NT1 on banjo not to long ago and it fit the mix great..... I would have never guessed it... but, what the heck, sometimes you just never know until you give it a try. :)

Well, it was the only mic I had and I bought it before I started coming here so I didn't know any better. But it has worked pretty well for me since I'm old and the stuff we had for home studios required a good bit of EQing to make it sound decent. So for me, even a NT-1 was a revelation and I just pulled a little 800hz out of it and it works fine.
But the MXLs are better I think. I just got them but the V93 has a harshness in the mids that doesn't fit my sax well while the V67 has a bit of a boost (small but there) in the low-mids that seems to really give a nice full tone for the alto sax anyway.

Heh. That "white stripes album" was recorded on stuff that most of us would kill for. Sounds huge to me. Not exactly tracked and mixed with care, but that's ok.
