ummmm the chain is Rode Ntk to mackie 1202 vlz pro to Delta 44 @ 32bit 88.2khz to Samplitude 8. Its a rough mix. On lead vocals i used the Analog Suite, UltraFunk delay, Tc Native Reverb and The Blue Tubes FA 770. The addlibs have blockflish compressors.

The songs are on this site http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=11749&T=9790<<<< the songs uploaded in 2006.

Also im so scared to touch eq's. I'm just looking for tips to enhance my mixing capabalities.

Maybe this will help?

Hi,

I don't know much about some of the products/plugins you mentioned, but some advice I read somewhere said to get the sound right as much as possible before you record it. It would seem to make sense in preventing more headaches down the line.

http://recordingeq.com/images/20a.gif This is a link to an EQ chart. Experiment a little with a parametric EQ while listening to your vocal. Start with a small Q.You might find some sweet spots to cut/boost. Don't be afraid of the EQ. Just get in there and start tweaking.

One caution though: Just start out by boosting and cutting with small increments. 1 or 2 db and see where that takes you. Trial and error.

Another thing that will almost always help: record another vocal take. Then listen to the results. It will definitely fatten up your vocal.

A rule I like to live by is to only use effects to get the desired outcome, but at the same time use the effects so no one really notices effects are present. Kind of a less-is-more approach.

Anyway, I'm definitely no expert. The whole recording/mixing process is so much fun for me. The tips I've listed have served me well.

Hope this helps. Keep at it.

Brian
