yes
in my nut when i re strung the other day. i must say, it has helped a great load with keeping it in tune, and tuning it is actually like easier and smoother and it seems like theres less tension in the grooves of the nut.

just thought i'd mention it.

It's a tried and true practice that one.........very effective! :)

Yep, works great. Been using it on the brass nut on my LP for years.

I use a slurry of Teflon grease and graphite for that. The Teflon is really slippery, too, and it keeps the graphite powder in place.

Oooh, that sounds good, too. Where do you get the teflon grease?

The next step is a Graphlon nut, which is a compound of graphite and teflon, you can buy them from www.stewmac.com and they are cheap and easy to work.
I have one in my strat and I have no tuning problems.

I bought some graphite lubricant specifically for this purpose but I forgot to put in in the nut slots when I restrung last week. Argh!

i got my new strat the other week, and i was getting pretty fed up of it going out of tune like all the time and making noise when i tuned it and stuff. put the graphite it and it pretty much solved my problems.

Not a problem; you can lift the higher strings out of the nut without even loosening them, put some of the lube du jour in the slot, and drop the string back in (get them off the string T's first if you've got them). The E and A strings you might have to loosen a bit first.

BTW, if you have metal string T's, they are contributing to the problem. Grease them, too, or better yet, replace them with graphite T's.
