what are some options for a 24 bit / 96khz i/o box for recording a number of sources (xlr and 1/4) all to different tracks in my recording software? i use cool edit pro, but can find something new if i need to... unfortunately, i am stuck in the sub-1000 dollar range... any ideas? thanks.

Options include M Audio Delta 1010 and Echo Layla... each has 8 analog ins and a stereo digital S/PDIF. There are others too...

How many inputs do you need?

Without that answer, I would suggest a Delta card or a MOTU card.

eh

This is for a notebook computer... mobile recording... to minimize outboard gear i wanted something that could record 8 or so channels so i could record an entire band at once (gobos and stuff), but the firewire gear is out of my price range. I think ill go with something less expensive that just has RCA in, like the Edirol usb. That way i can input my mixer and just have R and L. Thanks again... by the way, anyone have the aardvark Q10? that looks like it would be nice for a home studio setup..
