Ok here is the deal my semi band is recording some songs to try to audition drummers with right now its just me on guitar a girl singer and a bassist. We have recorded and put 1 song online www.soundclick.com/gogonasty . That’s the link in the upper right hand corner click on music and play the song CBC sunshine you if you cant play it here is what I have got and here my problem. I have got a tascam 414 portastudio 4 akg d 8000 s mics a shure accs 2 microphone and a cheap radio shack microphone. The vocals and bass aren’t really the problem its just that my guitar amp sounds so muffled and docent sound like real distortion though the clean is fine. I have a Marshall tsl 100 head and a 1960 a 4 12 cab can someone please tell me what I need to do to make this a good quality recording. I have cleaned the whole tascam out with head cleaner and blew all the dust out with a freeon air spray. And I have been fiddling with this for days now

My aim screen name is WYMAN guitar 01
My phone number is (408) 761 6009
My email is wymanapple@msn.com

We are rerecording Tuesday and I would like to have someone tell me what to do by then

Thanks

If it were me I would hit the pawn shops and try to find a Shure
57 for micing the guitar cab with.(unless you can afford a new
one)
One thing to keep in mind when recording distorted guitars
is that a little goes a long way.If you have to use the mics
you have, remember that placement is everything.Try isolating
the amp and have one of your band mates move the mic while
you listen thru the monitors for the sweet spot.
Hope that helps some.

Try turning down the bass and cranking the treble on the guitar amp. That's how I usually end up with them set.

That's quite a problem!

Im not sure what a semiband is - but you prolly need to overhaul some of your equipment...with the stuff you got - you can make something - but Im not sure itll be anything more than a rough demo sound
