I Need Your Lovin

Ido,
Finally another of your songs! I've been waiting & waiting.
There's something slightly wroing with the intro drum roll.
The guitars sound great - you've the style down well. The solo works really well.
The bass growls nicely. the tag at the end is a very nice Beatlesque thing.
I'd love to hear more of your licks through the piece.
Vocals, strong, clear and in the pocket level wise.
I'll listen again & comment on details. For now Thank you!

Sounds cool.

My opinion (and it's not worth much, so don't sweat it), is to crank up the bass a little more.

On the lyrics I think you should change "Yes I do" to something else, because it's the last three words in the chorus, and if you come up with something that rhymes with it, and is unique, it will be a natural title.

You could sing, "I need your lovin, like a ship needs a crew."

Okay, that's pretty lame, but you get the idea.

Thanks Ray. Glad you liked it! I'd suspect the compressor is probably affecting (effecting?) the drums in the intro. I posted a topic once where the drum .wav signature was somewhat wonky when compressed with no other signal. It's on the master stereo bus.

Sounds cool.

Mike (the bass player) would love to hear crank it up - he's great isn't he? Appreciate the listen and the feedback. I'm pretty much done with this tune, so although your suggestion has good merit, I'll probably leave this as is lyrically. :)

Hi, Gerry!

Very good song, good job on guitars, nice tone GTR solo.
Excellent vocals, sounds very, very good, congratulations (if you could share the setup would be nice).

I have the same opinion (mike) about bass guitar.Bass drum is a bit loud compared with it(including "kick" frequencie).

Thanks Ciro - I'll look at the bass / kick drum mix...

Vocals are as follows: Rode NTK -> Alesis mixer -> TC Triple C Compressor (Preset for male vocals) -> PCM80 reverb....

This sounds great!

When ever I review songs, I like to throw out comparisons. Your voice has a nice, smooth Glenn Fry/Eric Clapton quality to it.

Very clean production. The NTK does a nice job, and your effects settings are spot on. Guitars sound pleasant and are played very well, bass and drums are punchy. Can't find any real fault here...nice:D

Hey Gerry, another good one. I come away reminded of Delbert McClinton. Way cool.

Good job, no nits. :)

Peace,

Nice, I get a Steve Winwood feel from this.

Love the sound that solo guitar, nice fuzz:cool:

The tune sounds well orchestrated and well recrded.

I`m taking that the drums are (fake), would love to hear real drums on this.

This surely is a sweet tune, I dug it:)

Sounds good Gerry, the vocals are particularly nice and clear on this tune. I agree with the kick/bass comments, more bass would be nice on this. Great tune as always.

Thanks Nakatira, ksounds, Chili, David!

Yep - midi written in Cakewalk. Working on real drums although that may take a while due to logistics....

The NTK does a nice job, and your effects settings are spot on.
The NTK always gets a great sound (for me). The PCM80 is a great piece for reverb - I use the Concert Hall 2 setting.

I agree with the kick/bass comments, more bass would be nice on this. Great tune as always.

Sounds good - I'll be looking into that...

Another great rock song. I love you voice, Jerry. Your guitar playing is always inspiring, too. I'd like to challenge you to NOT write a love song. SOMETHING MUST piss you off!!!!:D :D :D

Thanks RAMI - I think you're right - all my tunes seem to involve love in some way. Not sure that will change unless I get passionate about something else....:D

good song Gerry. but i'm with Rami. write something other than a love song or broken hearts song. :p

I might have something here...

Not Only When It's Christmas - does not contain the word love. Does that qualify?

A wondrous Christmas Eve with candy canes and presents
Trees all trimmed just right.
All the decorations each one has a special meaning
In your life.

You took the time to give to others
Now there’s a warmth within your heart
And your Christmas spirit’s strong but
Don’t you know that’s just the start

Cause when Christmas is all over,
Got to keep that Christmas spirit shining through

We can’t forget all those who need us
You got to keep them on your mind.
Cause miracles don’t only happen when its Christmas time
A touch of loving kindness it goes a long, long way
Not only when it’s Christmas, but each and every day

And not that long ago you needed someone’s else’s help
To get you through
Might not have been Christmas, but the spirit was still there
To share with you

It can be as simple as a smile
Spend some time right now to listen
Let the lonely know you care
Yeah you can make a difference

Cause when Christmas is all over,
Got to keep that Christmas spirit shining through

We can’t forget all those who need us
You got to keep them on your mind.
Cause miracles don’t only happen when its Christmas time
A touch of loving kindness it goes a long, long way
Not only when it’s Christmas, but each and every day

Don’t forget the people
Who have to struggle all alone
Left without the loving that they need

Give somebody shelter,
Let the light within you shine
Never lose that spirit
Keep it with you all the time

Cause when Christmas is all over,
Got to keep that Christmas spirit shining through

We can’t forget all those who need us
You got to keep them on your mind.

I think that just gave me a cavity. :D

Strongly dislike the drum sound.

Bass is too quiet in many parts. With a kick drum that strident and repetitive, I'd like to hear the bass guitar follow it fairly closely. Otherwise a very clean and classic sound.

Good job on the falsetto portion of the vox.

This is a fairly straightforward guitar vamp. As such, I think you did a good job - the drum machine is holding you back here. The better the supporting instruments sound, the more apparent the drum machine sounds.

Thanks for the listen/comments Supercreep = I'll try and take the kick down and/or bass up first and see if that helps....:)
