Ok guys and gals, i need some critical listening and serious feedback.

Ive gone recorded this album, and for about a month ive mixed/ mastered it myself (please dont kill me yet, i know i should'nt do it all myself), and have gone in and re-mixed, re-mastered SO MANY TIMES.....just trying to get it right. Its been a pain staking process, only cause im so critical of my own work.

can you guys give it a listen to see if its "radio ready", "ready for mainstream" or "cd production"?

Its instrumental rock music, so many of you might not like it at first......but try it, listen to it for that sake of music, and listen for overall decent mix/mastering and sound quality.

I didnt go all out and make it super loud, and kind of backed off the limiter a bit to let a good balance of dynamics and volume come in.

for those who are not familiar with soundclick, click on the "blue arrow" to stream the song in "stereo/hi-fi" when your on the album page.

thanks guys/gals......

this stuff is bad ass. everything sounds good except the drums are sometimes very robotic sounding at times, but honestly i'm almost reluctant to say that they're programmed because they sometime sound authentic, but then there are times where there's alot of panned cymbal splashes and that kinda gives it away. but other than that the guitars sound awsome and this is obviously a guitar show case. it's really good for what it is. maybe one day you can find a drummer to track some drums for you. i think it would give a less click track robotic feel.

i listened to the first two songs. i'll probably get back to this to listen to the rest later.

yeah, it was a drum software for sure. But not bad for for not being real drums though.....close enough anyways.

the first 2 tracks are hard hitting rockers....

a more softer melodies are tracks 3 ( remember when) and 6 (duet)

the overall winning track (everyones fav so far) is track 4 (into the light)

Your guitar work is awesome Bryan. :)
All the tracks are great instrumental highlights, but you're right, Into the light is my favourite one (even before I read your comment!). My only nit would be that the drums sound very compressed and could do with some breathing space. But that's just my taste, so don't take it as Gospel....
Well done!

Joey :):):):)

your right Joey

some songs (the heavy hitters) had the drums compressed to hell and back. Some of the softer songs really got some nice drum action that seems to hit hard and stay open.....

thanks man, i value your feedback.....you rock!

Like song 4 as well, nice tribute to Satriani. Can really hear the influence there. Very nice playing on all the songs.

Pretty good quality as well, you should be proud for the efforts.

thanks Tango.....im am sort of proud of it. Proud that its almost a decent sounding album, all mixed/mastered at home "IN THE BOX".

:)

what software do you use? mixer? vst plugins?

I used Samplitude 10 for both recording/mixing and mastering.....pretty much all of it. I figured it would be easier to use one single program to do it all. That way, everything (panning laws, functionality, etc) is consistant for both tasks. Recorded at 24/96k

my main plugs for mixing is the Waves SSL4000 channel strip. The rest of he plugs (buss compressors, delays, chorus, etc) were just what ever came with Samplitude.

Mastering was mainly just 2 plugins....a Flux EQ, and a Sonnox Limiter. Dithering with what came with Samplitude (Pow-r #3)

Thats pretty much it....

That's nice to know...:)
I'm a Samplitude 10 user myself. Wouldn't change it for anything! ;):D

The guitars sound a little too beefy/muddy/bassy.
Other than that, very nice mix.

Its the nature of the Carvin Legacy amp. Its a bit of a dark sounding amp.

so overall , whats the general consensus?

is it ready to sell on iTunes,Amazon, Rhapsody, ect??

or is it "not quite ready" yet?
