can someone tell me wich equipment i should buy with good quality to record voices? I alredy have the sound equipment now i only need the recording one like the mic preamp etc wich im new :( help plz thanx :)

Hey djzikario - A couple questions for ya:
What kind of sound quality do you need? Is it for spoken word? Does it need to be portable?
Also, I'm a bit confused, you say you already have some sound equipment?

i need sound quality better than a simple mic connected to a simple compaq stock 5.1 soundcard, is to make a mini recording studio but with good quality im not sure wich quality is good im new at those 44,100HZ whatever lol, and refering to the sound equipment is that i alredy have a 1000Watts Pioneer home theater wich i could buy cuz i dont have too much $ for monitors and that stuff. thanx hope is understandable cuz im no english lol

i meant complete recording combo like the mic, preamp, cables etc.. all less than $300 thanx :)

Hmm... well, for under $300 you won't get top-of-the-line stuff, but here's a suggestion of a mic/pre/interface combo that will give you decent quality for under $300:
Mic http://www.apexelectronics.com/index.php?tmp=4&id=80
Pre/Interface http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MobilePreUSB-main.html
Cable : XLR

These are just some suggestions, there's lots of options out there... for software there are any number of free or cheap options available online.
If you're recording primarily vocals, the one thing I would definitely recommend is getting a condenser microphone.
For monitoring, your home theatre surround system is not going to be very good for mixing music, but it's better than nothing I suppose.
Good luck :)

Quality and price tend to be at opposite ends of the spectrum. Also, the quality of your vocalist(s) and recording space (acoustics) will be every bit as important, if not moreso, than specific equipment.

That being said, I would probably recommend one of two combos:

1) USB interface with built-in preamps (like the M-Audio Fast Track Pro or Tascam US-122) + budget condenser mic (like the Studio Projects B1 or MXL V67g) + XLR Cable

-- This setup will let you record cheaply and will bypass your onboard soundcard.

2) Inexpensive preamp (like the Studio Projects VTB-1) + budget condenser mic (see above) + new soundcard (like the M-Audio Audiophile 2496) + Cables

-- This setup will net you a better preamp, but you'll have to install the new soundcard and will need an additional cable to connect the preamp to the card.

You ppan to get an interface, mic, headphones, cables, and monitors for $300?
Son, you gotta save up more.
