For hosting, I like www.readyhosting.com I like their one plan. It costs $100 per year for unlimited bandwidth but the sign up fee is $50. That includes free domain registration.

Oz - what kind of download speeds do you get with that account? How good is the uptime?

I like Google. And, Google seems to like HTML better than any other web page construction choice. So, I'd second learning HTML.

There are some articles over at home recording connection that are helpful. The webmaster over there knows a ton about building sites that get good rankings, I learned a lot by getting my site critiqued (read: torn apart) over there.

I've been getting a fair amount of search engine traffic since I did what they told me.
