Roma,

I would suggest deleting this thread here and re-posting it in the MP3 Forum, which is there for exactly the purpose of having mixes critiqued.

You may be criticised there for your mix but not for posting in the incorrect forum:)

I like it, it's got a certain style to it, very identifiable. You guys are definitely unique.

As far as posting mp3's in this section, be careful. I got my ass reemed by so many people for not knowing the "rules." There are some not-so-nice people here, I promise, but there are some great people as well.

No...you got your ass reamed for spamming. Claim ignorance all you want, but there's no way you wouldn't know not to do that. Honestly, its probably the fundamental rule/courtesy of the internet... ;)

As for Mr. Roma, yes you missed the MP3 Mixing Clinic by a few forums but I'm proud of you for not doing so as many times as our good friend Darth over here.

Sorry, but I thought mixing should be discussed in the
mixing forum :)

An understandable mistake................this forum IS for discussing mixing, etc. But for critiquing finished mixes there is the MP3 Forum.

BTW, where in Norway are you?

east oslo.. :)

are you norwegian too? (if so, where in norway
do you live?)

I had the same misunderstanding, Roma. Feel lucky that you didn't get blasted like I did, but who cares? Fuck `em, right?

Darth

He doesn't need to feel lucky...its a different misunderstanding. ;)

He wasn't under the impression that he could spam the board. Furthermore, as non native english speaker (I'm guessing) I don't think you can exactly blame him for missing the right forum.

Look, DF, I myself am inclined to drop the whole thing with your canned luncheon meat but you keep bringing it back up...

Rome,

I am Australian, but descended from Norwegians that came here back in the later 1800's. We still have some contact with family in Stavanger and Bergen. From memory, most of my ancestors that we know of there were from the Rogaland (sp) region. I know that the family line has been traced back to around 1513, in that region.
There was also a connection with Fredrikstad and my Great Grandfather, but I have no way of tracing further information on that.

I also have relatives in Ludvika in Sweden.

Dolemite, you hall monitor. :D :D

Darth, welcome to the board.

Some advice: dont even try to outwit, Dolemite.

Roma, you have a decent mix going there. Nice balance, the low mids are a little strong in places. Some of the vocals in the beginning sound strangely EQd a little thin even for the very filtered and notched effect youre going for. Overall though the vocals fill up the mix nicely...which is a challenge with homerec gear bec making a naked vocal fill up a mix is all about good mics and pres. Not usually in large supply in a homerec context.

Im not a particularly big fan of rap with the exception of cypress hill (black sunday) but I find rap in a language I dont understand more tolerable, although the one dimensional tone and adolescent hypermacho posteuring is unmistakable. I guess its universal.

Hi!

The reason why some of the vocals are "Hi-passed" are because
theese vocals are samples from other norwegian artists
and to make them sound more like "cuts" from other tracks
we added this effect (its a pretty common thing to do within
hiphop music). This is actually the chorus (hook) on this track..

But the main vocals are eq'ed a bit up (1db) at about 5,6 khz
to make'em a little bit clearer. And compressed
with Waves Rcl using 3,5:1 ratio and 7 db threshold.

The produser (also my twinbrother) and me loved this
bassline, so we both agreed about mixing this very loud.
But we removed frequencies below 30hz to not
blast your speakers.

We tryed to add some background noises to the beat
to fill the frequency specter a bit.

Dolemite, I didn't try to spam the whole board. I posted in the mixing forum, and in the recording techniques forum. The mixing forum so that I could get opinions on the mix, the recording forum for opinions on the tracking. Hell, if I would've written the song, I would have felt justified posting it in the songwriting forum as well. Regardless, I've learned my lesson.:D

Hmmm, let's see...

Looks like you posted enough to forget your own threads... ;)

Look man...I am extremely tired of this whole thing, so anytime you want to stop defending yourself is fine with me. If you insist on drudging it back up, I've got a thousand ways to tell you you're a dumbass spammer, but I'd much rather get back to what's infinitely more important to me: music.

Did you even read my post? You quoted part of it, but I don't you got the entire thought through. I love you, Dolemite, but I hate you! :D

Well I'm going to hope "learning your lesson" will eventually include not defending your spam in every post. Until then, expect to be hearing from me about it. ;)

hey, knock it out..

why not discuss my mix in this thread instead of
arguing about this.

;)
