I checked the link in the post that someone recommended but I couldn't find a good snare sound. Where can I get a pack of real snare wav sounds?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I'm an idiot. It works just fine. Nice site by the way.

Guess I'm an idiot too, I still can't get it to work:(

you have to right click and save as. Worked for me when I figured it out.

Does the link still work? Doesnt seem to, unless it's just my fourth-rate isp screwing up again.

Can't wait to hear these :D

NYC Drumworks or Discrete Drums sample CD's provide a good source of quality recorded samples, but at a hefty price.

yeah but...

... I'm tired of paying stupid $$$ for 44.1, 16 bit samples, most of which are terminally overprocessed or infuriatingly soft and squelchy and lacking in bite, or sound really good but theres some stupid instrument sound in there as well so you cant use them, but you KNOW the guys who made the CDs must have made some great sounds which they've kept for themselves

Ahem.

The point is I really want to play with some dry-as-a-bone, crisp-as-hell, pristine, 24bit, 48 khz drum kit samples with varied velocities and styles , but sadly dont have the facilities to record them at present :(

one day it will happen, oh yes ;)

well uh..

..a lot of drumsound i use for triggering and all are ripped from cd's. a lot of songs have pieces with only drums, sometimes even quite dry. just pick them with a wave editor.

for example; get the dream theater song "6:00"; it starts with a drumsolo, which is beginning with a triplet of kickhits. take the first ands you've got a GREAT bassdrumsound with a lovely click in it.

and so on... :D

Is there somthing in sonar 2.0 xl that will allow me to use these wav samples to wright out drum tracks? what is the best way to wright drumtracks using these samples. thanks ahead of time.

Use the DR-008. There's a tutorial in the manual, which can be found in your Shared Plugins folder, and it's real helpful. I don't have a 100% grip on it yet, but I know you can use MIDI to trigger your WAV samples. If you're writing drum tracks, you'll want to use the Drum Map, then set the output to the DR-008, load up your samples, then it plays just like a MIDI instrument would. This is probably more confusing than anything else, but go find that DR-008 manual, and follow the tutorial, and you'll get on to it pretty quick. Good luck, and I can let you know more as I discover it myself.
