You can find pretty cheap power amps to power the Events. For that extra cash they sound by far better then those $100 rolands.

Let me tell you guys what I have.
HP Laptop
Acid Pro or Mixcraft
M-audio Mobile pre

I assume that the mobile pre will not power any monitors, so I would need to buy and amp. Am I right?

IF you go passive (non-powered)then yes....if you get active "powered"...then no
