Please listen to this and give me a brutally honest opinion I need to have this finished in a couple of hours.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Its good. I dont like the sound of the lead vox, too wet and doesnt fit. Everything else sounds pretty good. Good arrangement.

Bring down reverb... okay got it. Don't like voice... hmmm too late for new singer... Anyone else?

Voice is fine, its just too muddy.

Well I'm going back in and fidling with the eq. I took it off earlier and wouldn't commit to it. :/

If my back wasn't giving me fits, I would have been on my feet dancin' .....nice work, very up-lifting.......good job! Only nit I have is that there were a couple of slightly off notes in the vocals but, the performance more than made up for it!! Oh and BTW....you don't want to see this white boy dance....just ain't pretty!!

That synth horn that starts it out, and happens every so often is a bit bright...if you want it that high end, you might drop the volume a little. Cymbals seem a little muffled. I don't mind the vocals myself...I can understand them, and the performance is done pretty well. My biggest nit would be that synth horn...it just doesn't seem to fit as is...tame that a bit, and it will sound better.

It sounds pretty good from here, the lead vocal might be just a tad loud, but not by much, just a db or two.

drums are kind of muddy. there's not much hi frequency content except that stabbing horn synth. good luck man.

If I had more time I'd replace all the drums with samples of my own. The fact that the lady producding this guy wants it done like yesterday is of no help either. I think I'm just going to turn over what I have then work on it some more in private and hand her an updated version. I been up since 8 mixing this song I'm out of time and patience at this point.

Mix is good but the lead vocal has a short room sound on it I don't think fits. If it's the room you tracked the vocal in about the only thing I'd do is to try and put a long decay verb on it to disguise it. If it's canned verb, lose it and make it totally dry.

Lead vocal needs defining and that's it!

Burned to C/D and being played here at work!

I'm feelin' this joint!

Track Rat the vocals were cut in a small room that was let's just say less than dead. :D

Misterque thanks for the listen. I just found out today that this song is being performed at a church concert on Sunday. Hence the big push to get it done so quickly. The lady also said it should be on the local radio here in a couple of weeks. I didn't know all that was going to happen with this song. I was mixing it for a school project. All of a sudden my school project is becoming a commercial one.

Congrats on that, even if was a hair puller! Make sure you get on the credits as AE!

If I was the professor I'd give you 100% for a mark on this one! Excellent mix!
I love the panning and depth on the various voices and instruments - especialy the backups and the piano.....
Congrats also on getting it on the radio - it is truly radio ready......
BTW - pass along my compliments to all the singers/players - they are hot!

Will do and thank you.

The synth horn stabs are a bit harsh can you round them off a little?
Pretty flash - the high fem voc reminds me of Bowie's white soul a la the live tower Philly LP.
