So I just got my new computer and loaded in the Operating system, windows XP home edition. I then install cubase vst 5.0 and N-track. Neither program will work. When I opened cubase I got the following dialogue box:

The procedure entry point SMApLs-IP-EBP-12 could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel 32.dll.

Do any of you fine fellows know what I should do to solve this problem. Thanks.

You don't say what soundcard you are using but I have seen this error when a soundcard has a hardware fault. Try reseating the soundcard and all your PCI cards again or maybe try with another soundcard.

The soundcard I have at the moment is on the motherboard. I had the computer built for me at pc club.

I don't think Cubase VST is xp-compatible - you gotta upgrade to SX.

Has anyone been able to successfully use Cubase 5 with XP?

Daf (still on C5.1 / ME)

dafduc, I'm glad you said that. The thought also ocurred to me that the problem may be with my version of N-track and Cubase are too old to be compatible with XP. I will test the computer when I get home with some other kind of software.

If it is an OS compatibility problem try running in Win98 compatible mode in XP. Right click on Cubase icon select
properties/compatibility/run in win98 compatibility mode.
