Hi i recently aquired a 244 with some kind of motor problem? i'm not actually sure whats wrong with it or where to start.. but i'd rather do it myself if possible instead of taking it to a professional.
so heres what its doing: basically during playback of a track , the speed of the tape seems to fluctuate so that it is hard to record a 2nd track or hear what was previously recorded. I am also not sure if the tape speed is messed up while recording.. sometimes the tape even comes to a dead stop .. and you have to tap on it to get it to keep going, but during playback its usually too fast. often with weird high pitched background feedback of some kind... but wwhen theres no tape in the machine, the little knobs that spin the tape seem to move freely and at an even/consistent speed.
sorry for the lack of proper terms but if you could help me out id really appreciate it.
thanks
