Can someone please point me in the right direction with making beats. I play in a rock band but would like to place beats behind the music. I have just bought acid pro and am interested in trying this.

thougt you asked for a beatcreatingloopstuffprogram..
anyway what you need is a sampler or a laptop or something for playing back the loops you created on stage.
you can trigger these with an electronic drumpad or so.
better post this question in the equipment forums, you will get some great suggestions.

try Cubase with a virtual drum machine called 'Battery' by Native Instruments.
You can map drum parts to a midi keyboard then play them in real time
, recording the output in Cubase's midi sequencer.
You need a decent soundcard tho or you gonna get serious latency nightmares.

other software programs u can try are Reasons and Orion..they are great for creating beats behind your band..Acid Pro is good but it lead more to dance/house/trip type of beats..with Reasons u get it all..same with Orion...but it all up to you
