Hi guys,

I got the Tascam US-228 and it came with an special version of Cubase (Cubasis VST) And for some reason or another I cant seem to understand it.

I want to know how can a track be arm for recording.Cuz I record with a beat on the first track playing and in the secound track I record the vocals.
I dont know how these things can be done in cubasis VST,cuz i really dont understand the program jejeje :o.I read the manual and everything, but the manual dont quite say what I can do in order to know when a track is arm to record nor how to arm a track to record without recording the beat am singin to.

Any input would be gladly appreciated. :)

Thanks for reading :p

The bundled version of Cubasis VST is a miserable piece of software, in my opinion. I don't have the program in front of me, but I'll try to look at it later to verify. Basically, you have to have the correct inputs routed to the proper channels (first look in the device setup to verify your soundcard is selected and the inputs are active -- glowing green). Then, on the channel input, make sure the correct input is showing and the "in" button (I think that is what it's called) is pressed. When you're done recording that track, deselect "in" on that channel and select it on the next channel you want to record. That should allow you to monitor the previously recorded track while laying the new track. Again, you have to make sure the correct input is selected on the second track.

My advice would be to try out different software. Cubasis was so bad, I almost stopped using Steinberg software altogether. Presently, I'm using Cubase SE and am much happier. Well worth the $100. However, there are plenty of free programs out there that are easier to use than Cubasis. Look for Audacity, Kristal, or Reaper, for starters.

Yeah I recently got the Adobe Audition 1.5 and is very easy to use,but since cubasis came with the tascam I thought I could upgrade from Adobe audition :o.I think Im gonna stay with adobe audition untill I can buy the cubase you have now.

How Much you said cost the cubase SE?? About $100??
Cuz if is that cheap Ill buy it next week.

I just want to explore some recording programs
cuz i dont want to set my mind into adobe audition only, although
works and do the job well,But I want to gain experience with recording
software and hardware. :)

Thank you very much for the reply scrubs :D

Cubase SE sells for about $100. The newest version, SE3, just came out and it sells for about $150. Contrast that with the full version of Cubase (SX3), which sells for about $600. SX3 has more bells and whistles, but SE is a very solid program for a great price.

Well in the US you only can upgrade to SL3 NOT SE3 and the upgrade is $150.00 follow link http://www.steinbergupgrades.com/upgrade.html#LE

Vestast the link you put up http://shop.element5.com/product.ht...11789&random=0513dd4ee49fec678994a0efd28a3fc6 is for across the pond only and they let you upgrade from VST to SE3 so that upgrade is actually $88.50 US and another $25.52 US for the dongle, total 114.02. its better if you live in the US because for another $36.00 you get to step-up even further SL3, Dongle included.

Problem is we dont know where you are at baby recordz but there is your options!

Im in NY so I think I will buy the one Carter show me :D

Thank you guys for your inputs

-Cubasis VST you are Outtttttt :D :D
