I NEED BELLS (haha a typo over there cud prove to be very amusing...)

OK, I need suggestions for bells. I ONLY USE PAISTE!!! $300 limit. ANy suggestions? I found a set of 7 small cup chimes for $300. I also like the mea cup chime and flanger bell. But I can only get one or the other. SO... 7 cup chimes, or one mega cup chime and a flanger bell?

i owned the 14" flanger bell for a little while but i didnt really care for it. I think the way Paiste described it dealt with some phrase like, "modulating harmonics/tones". They were dead on. That thing had the longest decay time that i've ever heard in a cymbal. When you first hit it it produced a nice thick, mellow, full, bell sound and then the cymbal would ring/drone on and on and on. It was a very thick cymbal. you could hit it a little lighter and get a a light bell soudn out of it but if you really whacked it it would never stop. So it depends on what you want to use it for, but i personally sold mine because i couldnt find a use for it.
 
i personally love when cymbals ring. thats why i luv all my Paiste cymbals.

I use all Paiste 2002s and I love them. Of course cymbals should ring, but believe me when I say that the flanger bell doesn't just ring. Its ring has a droning effect to it. It sort of modulates as it slowly decays in a very 'gong'-ish sort of way. Don't get me wrong, it sounded cool and was very unique, but im a guy that likes to have a drumset made up of instruments that are multi-functional and are often used. The flanger bell would fit in well with a Mike Portnoy type of a drumset. I just couldn't justify keeping it around when i might only hit it once or twice on an entire album.

It would be best to try these cymbals out if at all possible. Maybe someone else on the board could provide you with an audio sample of their own.

I'd rather go with the set of cup chimes rather than the megacup chime and the flanger bell.

Maybe he could get just a few of the cup chimes and the mega cup chime or the flanger bell (if you liked what im describing)?
