I need a volume control plugin (Not Bluecat - it's got too many bugs!)

Dear Anyone.

I use a notation DAW called Quick Score Elite Level 2 - I love it, nobody else has heard of it, that doesn't matter for this question. What DOES matter is that it uses CC's for everything, so volume is CC7. And I've got a bunch of lurvely noisemakers that haven't got MIDI-Learn and don't receive CC messages, so they're stuck on full volume all the time and can't be automated.

Anyone know of a plug-in I could put on the - sorry for my lack of techie terms - stave slider? Channel strip? The thing with the button on that makes the sound quieter/louder if you slide it with the mouse - you know the one. An insert effect that would receive CC7 commands and make the channel louder and quieter so it doesn't matter that the instrument itself isn't receiving them? I don't mind what else the insert effect does as long as it can pick up on CC7 for louder and softer.

Main prob. VST? Kontakt of all things! Kontakt has a hewge sound bug they've never fixed and refuse to believe exists. If you create a multi with it (a.k.a. 'combi') so you've got a bunch of perfectly balanced sounds on the same channel/out and then turn them up, they should get louder like turning up the volume on a CD player. They don't. The loudness is applied SEPARATELY to each instrument in the combi, thus destroying the balance. So if you're using Kontakt combis, they're stuck on one level unless you've got this theoretical plugin to turn sounds up and down via the channel strip and CC7! It's not just that with me, though, there's a whole bunch of other noisemakers I've got with the same problem. BlueCat only works on Channel One - so you can't use it on multitimbral VSTs - and it keeps forgetting its settings - suddenly everything goes max. loud and you've got to set it up all over again.

Anyone know of anything else that has got MIDI-Learn, or lets you input a CC number for it to read/use, and can be inserted on the track's channel? 32-bit would be nice but I've got JBRIDGE. Just to reiterate - I don't care what else it does as long as it can receive commands to make sounds louder or quieter. I'd SAY - not an expert here - GAIN/VOLUME are the same thing here so a GAIN control OR a VOLUME control would do it. An automatable limiter or similar would work at a pinch - it would make the sounds SOUND louder/softer even though I know it's not really turning them up and down!

Sure you experts have the idea by now!

Yours hopefully,

Chris.

How about using a limiter, set to 1:1 so it doesn't limit and using the makeup gain knob? In Cubase, I use this to do volume changes on one channel, not using that chanel’s fader. Ive never tried to control it from another? Would that work for you as it doesnt change the sound?
