Well I am not so interested in like hundreds of knobs and a head-up display and a built in coffee machine. I just want the model that plays the best. What I mean is, one that has the best quality feel to the keys. I had a Evolution MK-149 for like $50 and it had all the functions I could ever want... i.e Modulation wheel, bend wheel, foot pedal capabilities etc. But the poor bastard played like a flippy old pinball machine. The keys were fresh cut plastic that hadn't even been smoothed alont the edges, and if you walked past someone playing it like a piano it sounded like ten people dancing around in flip-flop beach shoes.

Now, I am not looking for a $1,000 Yamaha digital piano with weighted key action either (although weighted keys would be ideal) I am in the < $400 range here.

What do you guys think is the best PLAYING model of midi keyboard controller out there?

Cheers!

Spend a bit more and get a Studio Logic weighted controller. I believe that they are the only real weighted controllers out there.
