i need to play shows and maybe be able to put a bass and a keyboard through the amp.
im pretty sure im just gonna put distortion through the keyboard, so its okay if it sounds bad, but i do kinda want the bass to sound nice and full for the most part...
id hate to say behringer but its looking like the best option.
so would i get the bass or the keyboard amp?
or any others, or ebay auctions you could show, or any help.
cheap does not always equal behringer (but behringer always equals cheap ), go to a second hand music store and you're sure to get much better deals there. buying amps new is for suckers.
Roland makes a "combo" amp in three sizes; if you get the biggest one, it is a heavy dude to lug around; however, it does come with built-in fittings for casters.
If I were you, I'd shop around/research for a keyboard/combo amp, with inputs. You might even find that a quitar amp might work and it might be MUCHO lighter to haul around.
But, if I were putting the band together, I'd got a small amp, but quality, for the bass player--seems to me that you'd get muddled sounds of certain notes when played together through one amp. Doing this would let you get a smaller lighter amp for the keys which could prevent an early hernia.
There are so many to choose from. Best you go to a vendor and take LOTS of time and try out what they have.
The keyboardist and the bassist (electric upright) in the big band I used to play guitar for both plugged into a peavy amp similar to one of those but much older and it sounded quite decent.
Obviously the best solution would be to get a seperate bass amp and keyboard amp, or maybe even get a p.a. system if your going to get serious and plug your keys into that.
I've run my bass through my Peavey KB/A 300, with pretty good results at a couple of small and medium size gigs. Obviously if you take your bass playing seriously, a dedicated bass amp is in order though.
