Guys, I'm in the middle of a problem (Sony Vegas 12)

I was working on a video and it has taken me a lot of time, mainly because I don't have a monster computer, and I'm using a lot of lens flare effects that require a lot of computer power and it crashes my laptop kind of often.

The thing is, I always used the Preview quality on Sony Vegas to work faster, added every single thing, BUT, when I finally finished my video, the lens flare effect changed dramatically the position, and therefore make the video look worse.

I just want to know WHY did this happen!!

Can I render in "Best - Quarter quality" at least just to leave it like that??, otherwise, it would mean to redo all the effects, and my pc can't really work with those lights, it bottlenecks!!

Here's a pic, left pic is the right one (Quality Best- Quarter), but with the right pic, the quality is Best-Full.

I would go to a video forum for better help on this. Try here: Video Editing Forums: Digital Director. They seem to have people knowledgeable about Vegas. I use Vegas, but I'm still on version 6.0 and I haven't use that sort of effect so I don't know how to solve your problem.

I'm thinking aspect ratios are different between the main video track and the effects track, but not sure. Sorry, don't have enough knowledge to help. I'll be checking out BSG's link as well. :)

Hmmm, actually Chili, you made me think about this, there's a chance that could be the issue, I'll try to mess around it, probably I still can save the mess I did :P

Two thoughts . . .

1 maybe it has nothing to do with preview at all. Maybe you somehow lost the setting for the lens flare.

2 maybe you can get that particular bit right, then render that separately, rather than rendering the whole project

Gecko, you are right.

1 maybe it has nothing to do with preview at all. Maybe you somehow lost the setting for the lens flare.

I checked the whole effect track, and the effect is divided among the different takes. But only 3 or 4 tracks were messed up, that's odd.

Anyway, I just fixed the first 2, 1 more to go!!

Technical explanation:

I was using the BCC Continuum Lens Flare 3d Effect, I just had to re arrange the Z coordinate of the flare so the Lens actually move to the opposite side and get close to the screen, and since I checked the option to bright when close to the edge, that will do it. Probably this helps somebody.

I just "upgraded" to Vegas 12 by necessity and I was completely flumoxed at attempting to automate some of those style effects... so I'm not surprised you're have the specific problem you're describing... I couldn't get anything to work in the way I wanted it to.
