I love my $400 tokai copy of a 335!

I have been converted to this new wave of Korean, Japanesse, Korean, guitars. I never thought I would let go of my 63 jazzmaster for a MIK Tokai copy of a 335, but I have-big time. I love this tokai, and the jazzmaster has been in the case for the past 18 months, since I bought it. I took it out a couple of weeks ago to gig with my trio, and wished I had left it home, and brought the Tokai. It is bone stock to boot. I recorded a session today with it, and love the tone I get from it. Any other cheapo knock off heads out there? Walter

Was listening to a fairly muddy tune before yours...wow your tunes are nice and bright and clear as compared.

All four tunes came out well recorded - nicely balanced, good tones and effects. Love the vibrato in your voice - soulful feeling....

Good groove going on with all of them.....love that Spontobeat!



Edit - Oh yeah - I had a Squire Strat (MIJ) once that I rented that was excellent but I couldn't afford to buy it at the time. Haven't had any copies that ever blew me away though - a lot had that un-tuneable G string too .....Congrats on finding one that plays and sounds so good - they are rare!

thanks! My g string was a bit tough to tune too. I lightly filed the nut and it works fine. I guess I did do a modification

Walter you amaze me!! You are a one man band. I listened to all 4 of em'!

My favourite is "They tell me I have to change my ways"...some funky blues stuff them....got me to dancin' the boogie baby!!!

Your geetar sounds pretty funky too!!

I can play 7 instuments at one time heres how it go's
guitar (acustic)
taborine( I tap with my foot)
cow bell(have it hooked up to a kick pedle)
harmonica
shaker pick (its a pick with a shaker on the end)
bongos ( I use the shaker pick to hit the bongos)
and also can hit the side of my guitar on the down swing
and vocals
when you strum down you hit the bongos it gives a perfect rythem
or you can use the kick drum and high hat instead of the cow bell and tamborine
or what ever combo
never tride to do all for at once but i gues you can(cow bell, kick, tamborine and hats)

Hi Jason: Thanks, and congragulations on your home! That is what made my studio possible. That and a real day job When I played for a living, I just owned guitar, harps, amp, and clothes. Now, I have just about everything I wished for. I look forward to hearing you in your studio, in your own home! Never sell yourself short. Many of the greatest musicians were the least technical of their day. Walter

Hey Walter, howdy to the misses. Love your tunes as usual but somebody has to take the critical side here. Give me the jazzmaster anyday over that 335 copy. It's brighter, has way more bite and is possibly the best guitar fender has ever produced. If it wasn't for Hendrix, I'm sure there'd be more peeps that think that. The 335 copy is just a little too muddy for my taste. Another thing that stood out is the reverb. I think it's getting way too wet and a bit overboard because it stealing attention away from your songs themselves.
