Dick Deluxe, who posts on the blindmans blues forum brings up some cool topics for thought. I started out in NJ in the 70's and the music was real hard. I loved it and when I started playing bars I thought it was blues, but it was more punk than anything. So, all these years go by and Dick brings this up. During this month I have been recording at least 28 cds for the RPM CHallenge (at 26 right now). The cool thing about this is I have been doing very little to no mastering and messing with mic placements, mic/preamp combos, etc. One thing I also started doing was putting a thumbpick on. I play bare fingered. So, all of of a sudden I am getting this driving beat on the bass strings. It instantly reminded me of my roots. I never knew how those guitar players got that sound and now realize you can't get it without some kind of pick. Thanks Dick! Here is a song dedicated to Dick:
