I like the Digi 001 and ProTools LE but...

... Digidesign has (inexplicably) decided not to support Windows 2000 and NTFS (only Fat32 drivers!). Could anyone recommend an alternative solution to ProTools that is as powerful and plug- in friendly? I'm looking to get the MOTU 2408 as my PCI & I/O and I do not want to download some crippled Warez version of any software, even if it's just to "try it out".
I'm running a T-Bird 1.4 w/ 512MB of Ram and plenty of disk space.
I would like to be able to track various keys, an MPC, vocals and guitars. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The only other software program that think is up to par with ProTools LE is Digital Preformer, by MOTU of course.

does the motu have WDM support? have you checked out SONAR?.......what is digital perfomer, ASIO?

Digital Preformer is only software that is about $500-600. It is probably the next best thing other than ProTools.

Sonar is just like ProAudio 9, but Sonar has better and for features then Pro Audio 9. They 2 programs are made by Cakewalk. If you havent alreadly, you can download the trial version of Sonar at Cakewalk.com

I don't know what WDM is.

MOTU (Mark of the Unicorn, Inc.) has just posted Windows 2000 WDM drivers for all MOTU MIDI and audio interfaces. This "across the board" release also paves the way for Windows XP compatibility when it ships later this year.

Looks like I'm MOTU bound...

nice to hear that motu has WDM . i believe sonar is the only sequencer using WDM....

Digital Performer is Mac only. MOTU makes hardware that is Windows compatible and has released W2K WDM drivers for its hardware. Hope this helps.
