I left my acoustic guitar in the car after out playing on Sunday nite, it was sitting in the case in the car on a hot day...33 degrees celsius, approx 90 farenheit all day. :o

I remembered it was still in the car, so after having a mild anxiety attack I opened the case and the warmth in the case was scary. I checked it out and let it aclimatise to the room and everything seems fine! ;)

Im so glad I bought a nice Fender case to go with my Fender 12 string. :)

These things happen. I played an Ibanez Performance for 15 years and left that cheap as chips thing in locked cars in the sun all the time. I gave up ages ago trying to keep it in good nick.

Still sounds good with a set of new strings and it plays well too

You got lucky.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad for you, but don't make a habit of it, because next time you might not.

You were fortunate, good for you. Extremes of heat or cold can cause damage, more often it is a sudden change from one extreme to another. Any time your (or anyone else's) guitar gets too hot or cold, allow plenty of time for it to gradually return to room temperature. It is better for the guitar if you leave it in the case (still closed) during this period.

a friend who also plays bass as me, left his spector neckthrough NS2000 bass(almost same as my bass but red) in his car.
came back and found the neck had pealed away and was all warped.

being a neckthrough meant the whole bass was fucked, and he could not just replace the neck

so he rang spector and they replaced it free of charge.

Try leavin' a crate of records in the front seat of your car on a 90degree day. :o

Exactly, leave it in the case till it gets to room temperature, hopefully a day or so.

Now Gorty, if you lived in Tasmania, you wouldn't have this problem...

I left the guitar in it's case to aclimatise and had a look last night, so far so good. It was still in tune, a couple of tweaks needed. I have had this guitar for nearly 15 yrs, I love this baby and promise to never be forgetful like that again! :o

Well here is a story for ya.... NEVER EVER leave a bass where your girlfirend may think it is "in the way" and want to move it. She may think leaning it face-into a wall is a good idea... which wouldnt be so bad... if there wasn't a BASEBOARD HEATER in the exact same spot. I came home about 2 hours later to find my pickups had melted onto my strings. I checked everything else, and it seemed fine... i threw in an old set of pickups and a new set of strings, just in time for my gig that night!

ps still got the bass.... girlfriend, def. on the way out! lol

yah i know a guy who left a martin in his case after a gig all night adn it snowed! varnish cracked in a hundred different places, looked liek crap, stil played nice though

I wonder what people do in northern cities that use public transit in the winter. Freezing outside waiting for a bus, warm on the bus (Transfer) Freezing outside waiting for the transfer, then warm on the bus. A winter of that seems like it would kill a guitar. I wonder if there is a battery heated case?

That's scary - glad it wasn't a disaster for you. Make sure the glued bridge didn't weaken!!!

I will get it out tonite and give it a good looking over and have a bit of a play. Fingers crossed! :) :)

NO FUCKING WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am seriously impressed by that. I have seen companies be far too generous with their warranty policies, but that is unbelievable.

Played for an hour last nite on the Fender acoustic, everything is in good working order, no damage done. Phewwwwwwww............. :)

I just brought my mic collection in from the garage after 5 nights hard frost in a cardboard box. Forgot they were out there. I managed to bring in the mixer and all the rack gear and the guitars and bass and keyboards and a few boxes of other stuff that I thought the mics were in. Was storing it all out there while the studio gets a refit. I'm sick! and I can't test anything...well I could but I'm scared to.

ElectroVoice RE 20 (1)
Studio Projects B1 (2)
Shure SM58 (1)
Shure SM57 (2)
Octava MC 012 (2)

they were all in pouches or boxes with packets of silica gel but hell, it was minus 6 a few nights back
