so please be kind :) Here is my situation... I just got a Korg TRITON and I've been using an akai dps16 to record with. I am interested in tying it all in with my computer using some sort of editing program. (btw, my comp is a dell w/ p3 550, 55 gig hard drive, 128 mg ram and a shite soundcard).
So please tell me, what will I need? Software, a good soundcard and a midi interface? If that is all I will need, can anyone offer some recommendations and prices?
I really know nothing about midi, but I want to learn! SO any help will do your karma good.
thanks!

the cheapest way would be to go from the analog out of your multitracker or keyboard into the analog in of your soundcard.

On the midi side, you can get an adapter that lets you plug you keyboard's midi out to the game port in of your soundcard.

THe best way to go from your multitrack would be to get a soundcard with digital input(spdif) assuming that your multitracker has digital output. THat way, there will be no generational loss that you would experience with analog.

For midi, you could get a sound card with midi(best) or you could get a dedicated midi interface for about $50 off ebay.

For sequencing midi, there are a number of programs that allow you to do that and mix in audio (cakewalk, cubase and my favorite, logic) or you could get a freeware midi sequencer that is just as powerful, record you midi in there and record the audio into another program like vegas. You can download a freeware program from download.com

I hope I have not confused you more than ever.

Peace
