An overexaggerated account of "that time of the month" from a man's perspective. This song comes complete with string noise and cheap effects processors, but the songs cool. Don't pull the plug on it if you don't like the beggining or the middle because it changes again at the end. This was the first song I recorded and was tracked very poorly and once again the bass is a little to low. But feel free to critique as necessary. All these songs will be redone, or remixed but I've been hanging around this board for months now without posting and I wanted to drop a few on y'all before going back to work on them. I alluded to this in another post, but the first day my songs were up when I would download one I was still getting the lo-fi version. Well both these songs are downloadable now. This one is called "Shoot to Kill". A rock song with a sweet twist at the end. Keep all cats away from your comp when playing this song (contains string noise), just a little.

Wow, I'm surprised I missed this post from you, Ray J... it was way back on page two.

I like the groove of this song... although I don't like it as much as your other two I listened to.

Ray J, the guitar tone is not too good on this one, bro. They sound thin... and hollow... and a little "dirty" (not distortion effect dirty, like unintentional dirty, clipping maybe, I dunno) I don't really know how to describe the tone I'm hearing and I'm not sure what you can do to fix it to be honest. But, do you know what I'm saying about the "thinniness" of them?

The two parts with the reverse cybal effect kind of throw the groove off of this song for me.

Too much verb on the vox.

The ending was cool, interesting... but I would've liked the song to fade out or end abruptly with the main groove of this song... Like have the main groove like it is, and then the sweet twist part that's at the end right now, and then go back into the groove and fade out or end on a powerful note... or something... just a thought.

But, like I said, bro... the groove of this song, I'm diggin'.

Teddie - Your right about the crappy guitar sound. I think there are two reasons for this. One, I play a Squire with a worn out fretboard and I get a lot of fret buzz. The second thing is I recorded this before I had 2 effects processors and I knew I wanted delay on the vox, so I tried to record the guitar with the effects already on, and it really gets mushy in this one.

Oh yes, and Theodore, wife will be glad to know you didn't like the middle eight. She hates it, and everytime she asked someone if they like it, even when I'm not around, they have said yes and it's really pissing her off. So now she'll be glad to know that she can finally say, I told you so. With that said, I really like this song, and I really hate the recording. So, I guess we kinda agree.

Yeah, guitar tone not too cool..but the song itself totally got me goin'....I don't think fret buzz is the prob on the guitar though. but it could be delay overdose....if you could separate the guitar track and double it, then mess around with eq wonder what would happen...just a thought...I think I mentioned in another post yer voice is way too good to drown in lottsa verb, but, ya know, it works pretty good with this tune...I dig this song....gibs

Pretty cool

I'm with everyone else on this one Ray. It's hard for me to tell if the drums are too loud or the guitar & bass are just too swampy. I agree that your voice is excellent, but it's hard to make out anything with all the delay. All around fine performances though. I really dug the lead guitar at the end. I'll go check out some more of your stuff!

gibs - yeah, this one's a candidate for the remix pile, I would like to re-record the guitar, but that might get tricky because of the way the tracks are split. I do think remixing is gonna help, glad you liked the song itself it was fun to do. I'll get the bass up next time and I think it will sound a lot better because the bass is really running in some parts, but it's hard to hear.

CMiller - The whole thing is a little swampy really. Thanks for the compliments on the voice and performances. The guitar at the end was really fun to record. If you really listen it's kind of a Hendrix-influenced solo played over sort of a gansta beat. I nailed it on the first take, but played it about 30 more times just for the fun of it.

Thanks guys

Ray J
