Okay, here's the situation. I have a 70's Sonax 550 B combo amp made by Yorkville. I bought a new speaker for it about 2-3 months ago as the old was fried. The amp worked great but always had a very airy sound to it whenever turned on, and after being turned off, the sound lasted for a few seconds then would stop cold. Now, it wasn't buzz or hum...just an 'air' sound, and it doesn't really pick up on recordings so that's fine.
Me being the curious type decided to (after disconnected the power supply of course) unscrew some of the back to peep inside. I undid like 4 screws on one side and the top came down a bit and peered in...alright whatever, but now two screws won't go back in, they just slide right in and I think they were screwed onto something inside there that fell off 'cause I'm pretty sure I heard a noise when I was undoing them. Whenever I turn on the amp I just get a buzz sound and no signal goes through.
Fortunately my girlfriend's dad is an electrician, but I have no idea when I can get him to check it out. I think it's just a simple matter of opening it up and attaching whatever it was, but I'm afraid of damaging it. Just wondering if you guys know what the heck it was?
