I made my first recording using my new Mytek Stereo 192 ADC last night. I could not believe the difference that it made...
(I am a band archivist/professional musician)
My chain was
MG200s/DPA 4061s>>>Oade m148/mma6000(pres)>>>wendt x4(4ch mixer)>>mytek stereo 192 adc>>>sound devices 722
I had been using the stock ADC of the 722, and thought it sounded nice, but it was definitely missing something..sounded a bit more"clinical" or thin. Well, I am here to say that the Mytek units are top notch. Really nice build quality, soundwise..very "analog", full, and with tight transient reproduction..all ranges reproduced more in line to the original sound. Great units, highly reccomended.
I auditioned 3 units when i was looking for another ADC. The Benchmark ADC-1, the Lavry Blue and the Mytek. The Benchmark had more of that "clinical, sterile" sound that to my ears is undesirable. The Lavry and Mytek sounded much better, with the mytek edging the lavry(the units sounded almost alike, to me)because the mytek is field powerable VIA 12v dc. That is very important to me given the nature of what i do.
I would really suggest listening to these units.
