I scored a Dean white/gold V the other day and I fucking love it. It plays like butter, looks the coolest, and SCREAMS!! It's second hand, previous owner had thrown an emg-81 in it.
When I laid my hands on it, it forced me to play this tune.
When I say it screams, this is what i mean, at 00:24 and 02:12..
That's set-neck mahogany right there.

...just wants someone to hear the sound of it before I'll bury it in drums and bass

Yeah, I'd second that in a big way....it sounds like you were recording it through a pillow.

At any rate, I dug what you played and how you played it.

Hmmmm....

Actually heard myself that after a bit of time, and it actually is sorta under a pillow. I'd guess I've worn my ears off while playing that and then went and mixed it right away. Happends to me all the time.

I'm not a big fan of that modern ripping sound with mids scooped. I'm sorta trying to get that overdriven/soft/middley-sound, but obviously I need to add some highs in there. I like the softness of the middle-range though, and it works IMHO well in faster picking-parts, making it hum more than sizzle??...
As always, the search of the Great Tone goes on.
