Hello,

I have finally received my mixer (still waiting on the D112 mic), I was to originally get the MX1604A but the shop didn't have them anymore. Now I've received the MX2642A, and it's looking big and threatening. I have an Audiophile 2496 Soundcard, with 4 RCA to 1/4" leads to connect to the mixer from the two ins/outs. Can someone help me out how to hook all of this up? I'm not really sure what to do!

Another thing, I've got XLR > XLR leads for my moniters, and it appears the the MX2642A doesn't have XLR inputs for the moniters to connect to. Does this mean that I will now have to get different leads for the moniters? And where do they connect to the mixer?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm so fed up waiting for all this stuff to arrive and now it has and I don't really know what I'm doing!

Thanks for your help in advance.

Tom

MX2642A

I have a UB242FX-Pro which does not cost much more than the MX2642A.

The UB2442 has the XLR Main outs.

Is there any particular reason why you purchased teh MX2642? They both seem to have the same kind of options.

I'm just curious.

Where I'm looking your mixer is £100 more? I was offered this mixer as an alternative to the mixer which they didn't have in the shop, and i was so fed up with waiting around and delivery dates being pushed back that I just said yes fine get it. I figured it would be an upgrade of the mixer I was already getting, but it seems to be quite different, and I'm not sure what to plug in where.

So do you (or anyone please!!) have any idea how to connect an Audiophole 2496 soundcard to my mixer? I'm gettin very frustrated, I'm not exactly a techhead and I'm new to this so I'm not sure what I'm doing!

Thanks

You may want to search the "THE RACK" forum for more answers. I asked a similar question about the UB2442 and was told to look there.

I know the Behringer manual is kind of sketchy but read it through completely a couple of times. It will help when you start getting answers from the pros as there is alot of technical jargon thrown out there.

Also find out what the input and output connections are for your sound card.

You need to decide how you plan to use the unit.

Hope this helps a little.

At the moment I've got the two inputs on the 2496 to two of the aux sends on the mixer, and the two outputs on the 2496 to one of the non preamp equipped channels on the mixer. This makes sense to me, so I'm assuming there is something wrong with the way I have set up the soundcard with either the computer/the software I'm using (N-Track). There are so many different types of the same card you can choose (1/2, SPDIF, Multichannel) that I don't know what to do really ! I've read through both manuals and am still at a bit of a loss.

I use N-Track as well (sometimes).

You must make sure you PC record in source is set correctly. On N-Track you must make sure you are set for audio and and not MIDI in. There is an Icon that looks like an old microphone when you are set for audio in.

I'm not sure how your computer is viewing the inputs of the 2496. I use SB Live and I input audio via LINE IN of the sound card. You must determine how your PC sees the inputs of the 2496.

Also you must go into N-Track and set up you sound card as the Input device and the Output device.

I'm not sure you should be using AUX Send out either.

Does the MX2642A have direct outs? if so, try using those instead to make sure what goes into the mixer is going out to the 2496.

No need to get frustrated. Sometimes just getting set up takes a while. :)

*Sigh*... I know, I'm just bein impatient :D

So ok, I've now got the two leads that were in the Aux Sends in the "Main Mix" outputs (it was a guess) and I am gettin some kind of recording going on. In N Tracks I've selected the "M Audio Delta AP Multichannel" and every time I record its coming up with six tracks! Two of these don't have any sound either...weird.. Also, there is a lot of background hissing, like when you have a guitar amp turned up very loud. Any ideas whats goin on please??

Thanks

N-Track

Ok... You've got this great sound card that I don't have :( and it seems to be a little more complex than the SB Live that I have.

1. I think your best course of action for the N-Track and Sound Card Questions is to contact Flavio Antonioli, the designer of N-Track. I have dealt with him for about three years now and he is very good with answering questions about sound cards that are compatible with N-Track.

The email is info@ntrack.com

2. Make sure that you mute the playback of CD, AUX, MIC,LINE IN on the PC Sound to make sure the hiss is not coming from any of those outputs.

3. Make sure that the channel faders on the mixer that are not being used are all off.

4. Make sure the FX knobs and such are not on.

Just some thoughts.

Yep that did get rid of a lot of the noise thanks!! However, for some (probably obvious) reason it is recording very quietly. I've got the main fader on 0, the channel fader on 0, the gain at 12 o'clock and I'm getting barely any sound through. The more I turn it up of course the background noise and hum gets way too high. I'll email Flavio about it and see if he has anythin to help me with. Thanks very much!

On last thing: On the PC Sound, make sure the record level on the selected sound source is up high enough.

Although for your sound card I'm not sure if this is controlled that way.

How do have all your wires routed? maybe I can help, take your main outs from mixer (xlr) to the 24/96 in's, do not use the aux sends, the 24/96 outs to a channel strip, Monitor out to the main monitors, N-track will work with the 24/96

You've lost me a bit there, but I have been able to record, although it comes out quite loud on the headphones (not too loud mind with a bit of fiddling) but barely registers on the mixer's meter. It does however register coming up to 0db in N Tracks... So a bit confusing, no?

P.S. At the moment I'm not using XLR's for anything but the the mics, there are only XLR outs on the 8 channels. Hope that all makes sense!

Can you tell me exactly how you have it set up? inlcuding the control panel for the delta.

It's ok now, I've managed to figure it out for myself :D (i think), but now of course I have a brand new problem which I've posted about hehe.

Cheers

this is the right set-up: do not connect the "main outs" to the sound card or you get a loop. Everything that comes into the board goes out the main outs (although I don't own this mixer: I may be wrong, but you need to ensure that whatever channel you are seding the outs from the soundcard are going to that you can make sure this channel doesn't go to the main mix if you use the main outs).

Choose the 1/2 inputs for the soundcard.

It should be just fine.
